Is it better if the stories are based on fact.
ICQ was nurtured and built by a quite different demographic than the
16-24 year age group.
Many of the methods that have been used in the quest for a better business model based on the younger set have left the very ones who made ICQ the greatest "social network" have "pushed" the more senior accounts out of the loop. There are several examples but I will give one here.
From the earliest days the interest groups on ICQ was very popular. Several months ago in the middle of the night ICQ deleted all the interest groups except the ones who "fit" the demographic they want in the future. This was without notice or explanation.
I guess my question is this: What happens if the Bebo, ICQ, Aim,Peoplenetworks.com pipe dream fails to hold the "fickle" younger set and the ones who made ICQ what it is have already moved on.
Yes, I agree, the story is in the telling. However, there comes a time when facts get in the way of a story that is merely that. Only a story.
