The problem I have with the web (different to printed press) is that it is censored much more - ie websites and words are deleted and changed sometimes moments after being published - and this is much more difficult to trace. Please think about printing out these notes and filing them with the British Library as your book will be.

Thanks, Jonathan, for all your support. A lot of people have big hopes for the Council (and there’s a fair share of cynics also). I hope we begin to see some kind of positive change from it all. This is definitely a great opportunity.

Re: would like to clarify that the Society did not have three failed attempts at Great Exhibition but its work laid the groundwork for the success of the Great Exhibition. The Society’s exhibitions were for British manufactures and decorative art, and due to their year on year success, plans were proposed for a larger event - beyond the Society’s means, so a Royal Commission was established and under Albert’s guidance the decision was made to make this exhibition international. The Society has had failures but this was not one of them
