Thanks for those comments Ali and Andrew.

Interestingly enough, Drew Jones should check out Huddle HQ as they're a prime example of coworking in action.

I've browsed Drew's site and left a comment. Particularly interested in his ideas around 'engineering 2.0'...hopefully we'll be able to touch base at some point.

Jemima,

Very nice article. Thinking about our conversation yesterday, I'm interested in the 'keeping a start-up mentality' idea. I suppose it's a good idea, but the problem is that we're hard-wired not to. Families, relationships, social groupings are programmed to find some sort of equilibrium or else entropy (depending on your point of view). In family terms, the unit doesn't try to stay young, it reproduces. The bee colony swarms. Is it 'unnatural' to seek to stay young?

The word I was looking for yesterday was 'co-working', obviously. The man I was thinking of, Andrew Jones, is interviewed here http://blog.launchpadcoworking.com/2008/06/12/an-interview-with-drew-jones/ but his very good (and generally obscene) blog has suddenly become a rather sedate one at http://notanmba.com/blog/ (presumably because of the forthcoming book called 101 Stories from the Future of Work).

Hey Jemima - great post :)

I thought you might like a bit of an update since we spoke:

- I completed on the house; the banking came back online with 10 minutes to spare!
- Huddle Workspaces launched on LinkedIn 2 weeks ago, one of only 6 partners and the only one outside the US. Check it out on http://bit.ly/huddle
- We hit 100k users on Monday

Exciting times here at Huddle HQ...

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your comment. Much appreciated.

I guess as Clay Shirky (and no doubt others) said, every company is now a media company. And every company has to be media savvy.

With the millions of conversations taking place on the web, and the billions of connections, trust becomes everything. It's time for a big shake out, which we're possibly only just at the beginning of.

Thanks again,
Jemima
